Sign & Digital UK, the leading exhibition for the sign making, display solutions and digital printing industry, has delivered a vibrant show in its 30th anniversary year, with a host of sales, product launches and new show features. Over one third of the 2017 floor space has already been rebooked for 2018.

The three-day event took place at the NEC Birmingham from 28 to 30 March 2017 and was attended by 5,350 unique visitors*, plus 298 revisits.

With 80% of visitors to the show involved in their company’s buying decision and 81% holding a senior director or managerial position, the exhibition attracted a  high quality of visitor across all three days of the show. Among the visitors were representatives from well-known companies such as Buxton Press, Carphone Warehouse, Debenhams, Delta Group, Fenwick, Gardners, Graham & Brown, Hollywood Monster, Image Co., JD Sports, Kall Kwik, Macro Art, Manchester Airport, Media Co., Next, Royal Bank of Scotland, Screwfix, Signarama, and Travis Perkins.

Rudi Blackett, event director for Sign & Digital UK said: “Despite the challenging and uncertain business environment we are faced with, it’s been another fantastic year at Sign & Digital UK. Once again we saw the industry coming together to do business and celebrate the innovation and creativity that fuels our sector.

“I would like to say a big thank you to all of the exhibitors, visitors, partners and media supporters who attended in our 30th anniversary year. With re-bookings for 2018 getting off to such a strong start, it demonstrates the huge amount of creativity, innovation and confidence in our sector going forwards and planning is already well underway to bring you an even bigger and better show next year .”

The 2017 seminar lineup was another popular show attraction, with more than 35 daily seminars and workshops taking place across six theatres.

New for this year was the launch of the Creative Theatre, featuring case studies, content and learning developed specifically for professionals in the graphics, branding and display industries. Speakers included Kate Waters, Head Designer of International Brand Agency, I AM, Josh Bunce, CEO of Inurface Media and Frazer Chesterman co-founder of InPrint and FM Brooks

Also new in 2017 was the Sign Trade Services Pavilion – a one stop shop for essential sign making tools and equipment. The Pavilion proved popular with visitors which showcased suppliers offering smaller every day sign making items.

The show once again featured a host of exclusive product launches and live demonstrations, including the worldwide launch of Inktec’s new Jetrix LXi8 production printer. Hybrid hosted the UK and Irish debut of the new Mimaki JFX2002531 LED UV flatbed printer. CMYUK also made a number of new business announcements, including their appointment as the strategic UK channel for Esko, and the launch of their revolutionary new customer finance reward scheme.

This year’s exhibition showcased the theme ‘Applications, Ideas and Advice’ and exhibitors responded with some of their most innovative and creative stands to date. Highlights included the Antalis American diner themed stand, constructed entirely from materials in Antalis’ range of visual communications media. The Epson stand featured a car and wallpaper designed by 17-year-old student from Longdean School in Hemel Hempstead, whose design was selected in a pre-exhibition competition.

Joey Kim, Managing Director of InkTec Europe commented on the show: “Sign & Digital is a key part of InkTec’s calendar as it gives us the opportunity to showcase our very latest products, such as the JETRIX LXi8 which had its worldwide debut at this year’s event. As always 2017 saw us networking with existing clients and meeting lots of new contacts for both our printers and consumables. We were especially proud to be here this year, as it also formed part of our celebrations of 25 years since InkTec first started.”

Dominic Fahy, Business Group Manager Display Graphics Systems and Imaging Supplies, for Canon UK, said: “We had a brilliant Sign & Digital UK 2017. The show provided a great platform to discuss innovative ways for our customers and prospects to evolve and grow their businesses. The feedback we received on stand was fantastic.

“Along with our industry leading technology, we demonstrated a wide range of applications illustrating what’s possible and helping to inspire customers with potential new growth areas. As part of this, we were very excited to showcase applications of the revolutionary new UVgel technology for the first time in the UK.”
